Fifteen years ago, four people from the Maranatha Church in Minneapolis were in Costa Rica walking through and praying for the University in San Jose.  As they walked and prayed over the campus, they felt the Lord was showing them to start a campus ministry there.  This was the birth of the ministry that is now led by Scott Leisner, who was sent there by Maranatha.

Four years ago, the Lord opened the doors for a huge house on the campus to be used for this ministry.  An elderly woman owned an 11-bedroom house right off the campus, and had been praying for a way to be able to move into a smaller apartment.  In this timing, Scott had been praying for a house that could be used to begin a church on campus as well as providing for housing needs of students.  Scott walked past the house one day, and the Lord spoke to him and told him to go talk to the owner about this house. In obedience, Scott knocked on the door, not knowing what to expect.  This was the answer to both of their prayers, and Scott is now renting this building with the intentions to buy it.

The house is now the meeting place of the new campus church, Comunidad Cristiana Maranatha.   It also provides housing for students and members of the ministry outreach to the community and the university.

My wife and I have both been on mission trips with Maranatha Church to Costa Rica where we evangelized and ministered to the students at the University of Costa Rica as well as a few local churches.  I served for 3 trips, and in 1996 I stayed an extra month in Costa Rica to help with needs of one of the local churches.  My wife served on one trip as well.  We actually spent our honeymoon in Costa Rica, and on the way to the resort we took a few days to meet with Scott.  This was when we actually saw the house he now has.
